Objectives for the ‘coastal adaptation pathways’

The objectives set at the outset of the project by the community (see "Community led") for the CAPs were as follows:

1. To protect people, essential services and lifeline infrastructure, providing a safe place to live now and for our children’s children.

2. To provide functioning ecosystems where possible.

3. To maintain access and provide for recreation.

4. To work with nature and use science and engineering to avoid or mitigate increasing the risk of coastal hazards to people, lifeline infrastructure and existing and new development.

5. To develop strategies that can be consented, funded and implemented.
